At SUNY Niagara, Student Success Services brings together caring professionals dedicated to helping you succeed inside and outside the classroom. From your first registration through graduation, our team provides personalized guidance, resources, and encouragement to help you stay on track, connect with opportunities, and reach your goals.

Whether you need academic support, career planning, accessibility accommodations, transfer guidance, success coaching, or simply someone who cares enough to help you find the right next step, we’re here for you.

Our services include:

  • Academic Coaching – Student Success Coaches are available to answer student academic questions, assist students in fulfilling graduation requirements, registering for classes, and provide referrals to other on-campus support services to overcome barriers.
    • Excelsior Coaching – Students who receive an Excelsior scholarship should meet with a Success Coach before making any changes of major or adding or dropping of classes.
    • Reconnect Coaching – Students who receive the SUNY Reconnect scholarship for adult learners should meet with their Success Coach before dropping classes to ensure they maintain eligibility.
    • Student Outcome Tracking (SOT) Coaching – SUNY Niagara has implemented Student Outcome Tracking (Course Eligibility for Financial Aid). This program will assist students in determining financial aid eligibility for each of their courses. Students cannot be awarded financial aid for classes that do not count toward their degree or certificate program requirements. Students will receive a notification from Financial Aid recommending they discuss ineligible classes with a Success Coach.
  • Advisement Services – Student Success coordinates New Student Advisement and assigns academic advisors to all Current students. Success Coaches work as a collaborative team with Academic Advisors to support each student holistically.
  • Change of Major – Change of major applications are available through Banner Web. Students can meet with a Success Coach to discuss the desired Major Change and the effect it will have on their educational path.
    • Preparing for Academic Programs with Pre-Requisites – Students looking to change majors into an academic program with pre-requisites (e.g. Radiologic Technology) should make an appointment with their Success Coach to discuss eligibility requirements and strategies pertaining to changing into one of these majors.
  • International Student Services – After admissions acceptance, international students are supported through the Student Success DSO. International students are required to meet with the DSO for current students with 10 days of their arrival on campus.
  • Rebound Program – Academic Notice students needing additional academic and student support services to help recover their GPA above a 2.0.
  • Withdrawal Coaching– Although the withdrawal form can be found online, students are encouraged to discuss withdrawal options with a Success Coach and Financial Aid prior to withdrawing from SUNY Niagara to discuss academic and financial implications.
