đ SUNY Niagara Open House | âď¸ April 2026: Sanborn + NFCI Open Houses @ SUNY Niagara |
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are trained to recognize, assess, and manage emergencies of acutely ill or severely injured patients. They are often the first responders to a medical or traumatic emergency, providing patient care and transporting the sick or injured to appropriate medical facilities.EMTs are in great demand. There are many positions available as volunteers and paid members of firehalls, and in Ambulance Services. If you are interested in becoming an EMT, there is often funding available to assist you. In addition to the original certification, students can obtain the necessary education to renew their certification with us.
Participants Affiliated with Firehalls or Other Qualified EMS Agencies are often eligible for NY State DOH tuition reimbursement. SUNY Niagara will temporarily waive the amount of funds expected from NY State DOH; however, students should be aware that this cost obligation remains if they fail to meet the qualifications for this reimbursement.
Specifically, participants should be aware that this waiver requires they complete and pass the class; pass the skills exam provided through SUNY Niagara; and pass the first available certification exam from NY State after the class concludes.
Should a student not complete the course, not pass the course, not pass required exams, or otherwise find themselves ineligible for reimbursement, they will incur the full charges for the course based on Workforce Development’s refund policy.
Not a part of a Firehall or EMS Agency? Funding may still be available. Contact Workforce One for Niagara County’s Assistance or Rodney Hogg for other options.
