Part Time Music Instructor – American Popular Music

General Description:

Niagara County Community College has a need for a part time Music Instructor for our American Popular Music course.

This course is taught in person in a classroom setting on our Sanborn, NY campus. This music course is a survey of American popular music from its roots to the present day. It will trace the acculturation process to the creation of Jazz and Rock n’ Roll to present day popular music forms. It investigates American music as it relates to cultural and social as well as discussing music in terms of structure and artistic value. The ability to read music notation is not a necessity. The course is required of music majors and recommended for the non-music major or students without previous music experience.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Three years of experience teaching at a high school or college level
