Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Assistant Professor

SUNY Niagara is excited to kickoff our Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) certificate program and are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable DMS Assistant Professor to help lead us. This is an exciting opportunity to help launch and shape a new Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certificate Program.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction while contributing to curriculum development, program assessment, student success, and continuous program improvement. This faculty member will play an integral role in developing a program that prepares graduates for successful careers in diagnostic medical sonography and eligibility for national certification examinations.

This position will deliver engaging instruction, provide hands-on training with state-of-the-art sonography equipment, and mentor students as they develop the skills needed to excel as professional sonographers. Will also be responsible for integrating ultrasound technology into classroom instruction to enhance the learning experience and ensure effective knowledge transfer.

This role includes curriculum development, lab supervision, and collaboration with healthcare facilities to ensure program alignment with industry standards. The position will be responsible for ensuring that students are well prepared for certification exams conducted by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.

This position also is responsible for program coordination, student advisement, assessment of learning outcomes, participation in divisional and college activities, and all required duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook. In addition, will be responsible for attending regular office hours, meetings on campus, and participating in committees. Teaching assignments may be during day, evening, or weekend hours.

In addition to the base salary, there are many ways to increase the salary further by teaching overload, teaching summer courses, doing special assignments etc. There is a tenure track pathway for promotion to higher level salaries of Associate Professor and Professor.

Required Qualifications:

– Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiologic Technology or related field
– Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the concentration(s) offered; ARDMS certification
– Have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques;
– Have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
