Professional Tutor Tracy Solotes is a Professional Tutor at the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) at SUNY Niagara, which is ironic because he originally walked into ACE looking for help and somehow never left. He tutors accounting, business, statistics, and consumer mathematics, spending his days convincing students that Excel is a friend, not an enemy, and that statistics is only terrifying until the third cup of coffee. After more than 20 years in the skilled trades, Tracy made the completely rational decision to trade hard hats for textbooks. He graduated from SUNY Niagara in 2025 with Associate degrees in Accounting and Business Administration, earned High Distinction honors, received the President's Medallion, then immediately decided that wasn't enough and enrolled in Niagara University's MBA program. He'll graduate in the spring of 2027, take the CPA exam, and continue his apparent refusal to know peace. Tracy began as a Student Tutor in September 2023, became a Professional Tutor in June 2025, and in the spring of 2026 helped his team win the Cost Accounting Case Competition sponsored by Lumsden McCormick CPA. Yes, competitive accounting is a real thing, and yes, he has the trophy to prove it. ACE completely changed Tracy's academic journey. He firmly believes he wouldn't be where he is today without the support he received there, which is why he enjoys helping students realize they're capable of far more than they think. When he's not explaining why debits equal credits for the thousandth time, you'll probably find him hiking, biking, or kayaking—usually because it's the only way to escape spreadsheets for a few hours.
