All students planning to graduate are encouraged to apply for graduation. Login to Banner Web. Click on “Student Records“, and “Apply for Graduation” to apply.
This should be done during your last semester of enrollment. Filing deadlines are published throughout the campus.
If you do not apply for graduation, but remain eligible for a degree and/or a certificate, the SUNY Niagara Auto Conferral policy applies.
SUNY Niagara is teaming with Parchment to offer an official digital version of your diploma. It’s fast, free, and sharable. Celebrate your accomplishment with those who supported you along the way — your family, friends, and colleagues. Share with potential employers to kick-start the next step in your journey or career. The digital diploma does not replace the paper diploma. A paper diploma will be mailed to the graduate’s address on file approximately 3 weeks after the digital diplomas are issued.
How to Get Your Digital Diploma
Graduates will receive an email and text notification with instructions for electronically claiming their diploma. To ensure your paper diploma is mailed to the correct address, please review your address on file under the Personal Information tab in Banner Web.
Follow these simple steps:
Your digital diploma will always be accessible through your Parchment account. You can login and download or share it again and again — at no cost to you.

You can meet with your advisor to review the graduation requirements and the academic coursework you’ve taken.
You can also run a degree evaluation on Degree Works. This will help you review the coursework you’ve taken and apply it toward your degree/certificate requirements to determine eligibility for graduation.
A hold on your accounts (i.e. cashier’s, library, etc.) will prevent us from issuing a diploma/certificate to you. You will need to resolve this issue prior to graduation by contacting the appropriate office.
Graduation certifications are performed during the weeks following submission of final grades for the semester. If you are NOT eligible, a notification letter is sent from the Records Office.
If you continue coursework at SUNY Niagara, or you transfer to another institution and have credits transferred back to complete requirements, you MUST notify the Records Office to change your anticipated graduation date on your graduation application. This ensures your academic record will be re-evaluated for graduation and, if qualified, will be certified at the appropriate time.
Be sure to check the header section in your degree evaluation for updates on your graduation application status.
