Disability Awareness Microcredential
This microcredential is designed to give students an understanding and working knowledge of the human services system and the role of the human services professional. Students will be familiarized with the causation, assessment, and treatment of physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities experienced from birth through adolescence. An interdisciplinary perspective including social work, rehabilitation, and exceptional education will be utilized in understanding the experiences of a person with a disability throughout the life stages of childhood, adolescence through adulthood. Attention will be given to life-long, acquired, and hidden disabilities (e.g., mental illness). We will also examine family, ethical, legal, and various other socio-emotional issues.- HUS 101 Introduction to Human Services, 3 credits
