Faculty & Staff Accessibility Responsibilities

All SUNY Niagara employees are responsible for ensuring that digital and instructional content is accessible.

Faculty and staff should:

  • Use properly structured documents (headings, lists, readable order)
  • Add alt text to images and meaningful descriptions
  • Ensure PDFs are accessible (not scanned-only files)
  • Provide captions or transcripts for video/audio content
  • Use accessibility checkers before publishing materials
  • Design course materials with accessibility in mind from the start
