What is ASAP?

Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) provides the support students need to complete their associate degrees on time. The program offers financial assistance for textbooks, groceries, transportation, and other costs, along with academic support, personalized advising, and career development services to help students stay on track.

Eligibility

Students are typically eligible for SUNY ASAP (Advancing Success in Associate Pathways) if they:

  • Receive at least $1 of Pell Grant or New York State aid (TAP or Excelsior)
  • Enroll full-time in an associate degree program (usually 12+ credits)
  • Qualify for in-state tuition or SUNY financial aid
  • Complete financial aid applications such as FAFSA and TAP
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen (NYS DREAM Act students also eligible)
  • Agree to participate in required program activities
  • Take any required remedial courses immediately upon enrollment
  • Students must have previously earned no more than 21 credits applicable to their proposed program of study (excluding any earned while in high school) and hold a minimum 2.0 if already matriculated and applying to ASAP

Benefits

SUNY ASAP helps students graduate on time by providing:

  • Financial Support, including:
    • Cost of attendance award 
      • Students receive an annual award divided across the Fall and Spring semesters of up to $400. These funds are designated for the non-tuition components of the cost of attendance after all other federal and state financial aid has been applied. This award is intended to offset the full cost of college attendance beyond tuition such as room/board and personal needs. 
    • Transportation/monthly stipend 
      • Students enrolled in SUNY ASAP are provided with a monthly stipend of $50, up to $400 annually, to assist with transportation or other necessary monthly expenses. 
    • Textbook stipend 
      • Each student receives a $150 textbook stipend per semester, up to $300 annually, to offset the costs of textbooks and instructional materials. 
  • Personalized academic advising
  • Academic support and tutoring
  • Career development services
  • A structured pathway and support community
