Veterans Memorial Park at SUNY Niagara
Established in 1976 and reimagined in 2023, Veterans Memorial Park at SUNY Niagara stands as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of Niagara County’s armed forces. This living memorial honors the past while inspiring future generations to remember those who served.
Veterans Memorial Park was established on April 28, 1976, in celebration of the Bicentennial anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Originally created as a tribute to those who served, the park has stood as a symbol of gratitude and remembrance for nearly five decades.
In 2023, SUNY Niagara reaffirmed its commitment to Veteran Services by transforming the park. The standalone monument was relocated and expanded, creating a space that both honors the past and embraces the future. Officially unveiled on November 9, 2023, Veterans Memorial Park now stands as a living memorial, ensuring the sacrifices of Niagara County’s armed forces are never forgotten.
SUNY Niagara used funding and donations to create a new veterans’ monument featuring a Reflection Wall honoring military heroes, a Military Branch Wall of Honor displaying emblems of all six service branches, and flag displays for the U.S., POW/MIA, and New York State flags.
