Academic Counseling FAQs
You can call 614-6290 or go to Room D-102 to schedule an appointment to see a counselor in Student Success Center or you can go to niagaracc.suny.edu and follow these directions:
- Select Banner Web
- Enter secure area using your Twolves login or student ID # and PIN
- Click Student Services and Financial Aid tab
- Click Student Records
- Select Curriculum Change Application
- Complete and submit an application
Q: What happens if I drop a class during the first three weeks of a term?
A: If you drop within the first three weeks, the class is completely removed from your schedule and does not count toward attempted credits for financial aid
Q: What happens if I drop a class after the first three weeks?
A: After week three, the class will remain on your transcript with a “W” (withdrawal) grade. It counts as attempted credits, which may affect your financial aid eligibility—contact the Financial Aid Office in A-117 for specifics .
Q: Am I responsible for my classes once I register?
A: Yes. Once you register in Banner Web, a seat is reserved and you are financially responsible. You must withdraw before the term starts to avoid being charged .
Q: What if I want to switch to another course?
A: You may select an alternate course from your advisement sheet or monitor Banner Web for openings during the first week of classes .
Q: Who do I contact for help with Banner Web?

Q: Can I change my schedule after seeing my current grades?
A: Yes. You can modify your schedule via Banner even after receiving grades. If you’re repeating a course (failed or passed) and are using financial aid, consult the Financial Aid Office before making changes .
Q: How long can I add/drop classes?
A:
- You can add/drop online through Banner Web until the end of the first week of classes.
- After that, dropping is permitted until the end of the third week, beyond which a “W” is assigned
Q: What if I want to be a full-time student?
A: You must maintain a minimum of 12 credits if you’re planning on full-time enrollment .
Q: What leads to Academic Probation?
A: Probation occurs if you accumulate too many attempted credits but not enough earned credits, and/or your GPA falls below the threshold. Refer to the Academic Progress Chart in the College Catalog. It signals serious warning: to regain good standing—and financial aid—you must succeed in upcoming courses .
Q: How do I view or pay my bill?
A: Payment deadlines are listed on the Registration & Records website and in Banner Web. You will not receive a mailed bill—monitor your Banner Web account for billing information .
Q: When does enrollment “lock-in” occur?
A: Enrollment is finalized at 12:01 a.m. on your designated start date, as assigned by the Registration & Records Office .
Q: What if I need counseling support?
A: Personal or emotional counseling is available through the Wellness Center, located in C‑122. Services are confidential .
