  1. Vacant positions are listed on the SUNY Niagara employment portal. In addition, position vacancies are advertised both locally and nationally in print and online recruitment media.
  2. Persons responding to these available career opportunities should follow the application instructions specified on the posting. Applications must include all required documents as stated.
  3. The search procedure is thorough and designed to find the most suitable candidate for the open position in a three-stage process. Complete application packets that meet the required qualifications are reviewed by members of the search committee. Selected candidates will be able to demonstrate their suitability for the position to the search committee in an interview.
  4. Once the interviews are completed, the committee recommends to the President of the College the names of up to three persons who they feel are acceptable for the position.
  5. The candidate selected for the open position is subject to criminal background checks in accordance with SUNY Niagara policy and all applicable Federal and State Laws and Regulations.

The intent of these procedures is to select the right individual in accordance with the needs of the College and within appropriate policy and equal opportunity guidelines. Search committee members and the administration of the College take pride in their role in the hiring process. As SUNY Niagara wishes to make the process as comfortable as possible, applicants are welcome to email Human Resources about these procedures or about the status of their application at any time.

Part-time vacancies are posted on the SUNY Niagara employment portal. Please follow the application instructions for the position opening in order to be considered for employment.

Competitive positions are filled from a certified eligible list provided by the Niagara County Civil Service Office. Persons interested in civil service competitive positions should contact the Niagara County Civil Service Office for information about testing and placement on the list (phone: 716-438-4071; website: www.niagaracounty.com). If you are currently on a civil service list for a competitive position for which SUNY Niagara is hiring for, please apply to the position.

Non-competitive positions are filled from applications that have been approved as qualified by Niagara County Civil Service Office. Apply online for non-competitive positions.

The search procedure to fill full-time faculty and administrative positions is thorough and designed to support the Diversity and Inclusion Plan. A three-stage process is used. In Stage I candidates are reviewed by Human Resources and in Stage II qualified candidates are reviewed by members of the search committee, through which a screening takes place to determine who will move on to Stage III based on the advertised qualifications of the position. As each stage is completed, applicants who do not meet the necessary qualifications will be notified. Stage III is the interview stage, where the candidates are invited to campus to meet with the committee. (As a general policy, SUNY Niagara does not reimburse candidates for travel expenses.) It should be noted that the position vacancy announcement will identify what materials are required of each candidate.

It is important to ensure that materials are submitted in accordance with the vacancy announcement. Once the interviews are completed, the committee recommends whenever possible to the president of the College the names of a minimum of two, a maximum of three, persons who they feel are acceptable for the position.

The intent of these procedures is to select the right individual in accordance with the needs of the College and within appropriate policy and guidelines. Search committee members, the administration, and the president take seriously their role in the process. As SUNY Niagara wishes to make the process as comfortable as possible, applicants are welcome to email the Director of Human Resources, Equity & Inclusion, Title IX Coordinator about these procedures or about the status of their application at any time.
