The mission of SUNY Niagara’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is to expand access to higher education and empower students to achieve their academic, personal, and career goals. Through individualized guidance, academic resources, financial assistance, and a strong sense of community, EOP supports students as they transition into college, progress toward graduation, and prepare for life beyond SUNY Niagara.
Our program is committed to recognizing each student’s strengths and potential while helping them overcome barriers that may affect their college experience. We fulfill this commitment by providing:
Each EOP student works closely with an EOP counselor who provides individualized support, helps students navigate college expectations and resources, and encourages continued progress toward their goals.
Students have access to academic support, success workshops, tutoring resources, study opportunities, and strategies designed to strengthen the skills needed to succeed in college.
Eligible students receive EOP financial support to help reduce educational expenses and support their continued enrollment.
Incoming students participate in the EOP Summer Academy, where they become familiar with SUNY Niagara, connect with fellow students and program staff, explore campus resources, and begin developing the skills necessary for a successful transition to college.
SUNY Niagara EOP is dedicated to meeting students where they are, recognizing where they can go, and equipping them with the knowledge, resources, and encouragement needed to persist, graduate, and reach their full potential.
EOP has become so much more than just a program to me. When I first started college, I was worried that I wouldn’t fit in or feel comfortable, but EOP quickly became a place where I felt like I belonged. Patty and Taylor have always made sure I know everything I need to know and that I’m making the best decisions for myself. Whether that means calling Financial Aid, going with me to get something figured out, or simply being there when I need someone to talk to, they are always there for me. I go to the EOP office every day after my classes, and it has become a place where I can sit down, relax, and open up. EOP has made my college experience feel a lot less scary and a lot more like home.
