Apply to SUNY Niagara

Which Best Describes Your Situation?

A few factors make the process a little different from student to student.

A student enrolling in college for the first time, with no prior attendance at any higher education institution. Freshmen may be recent high school graduates or individuals who have never taken college courses before. They typically begin with general education and introductory courses as they start their academic journey.

A student who has previously attended at least one other college or university and is now enrolling at SUNY Niagara to continue their education. Transfer students may bring credits from their previous institution, which may be evaluated for applicability toward their degree program. They often transition to SUNY Niagara for reasons such as program availability, cost savings, or a change in academic or career goals.

A student who is a citizen of a country other than the United States and is enrolling at SUNY Niagara. International students may require a student visa (such as an F-1 visa) to study in the U.S. They often need to meet additional admission requirements, such as English language proficiency tests (TOEFL or IELTS), and may have access to specialized support services to help them adjust to academic and cultural life in the U.S.

Attend an Online-Only Program

A student who has previously attended SUNY Niagara but has not been enrolled for one or more semesters and wishes to return to continue their studies. Re-admit students may need to complete a new application and may be required to meet updated program requirements. This category includes students who took a break from their education and now want to resume their degree or certificate program.

A student who is enrolling in courses at SUNY Niagara without seeking a degree or certificate. Non-matriculated students may take classes for personal enrichment, professional development, or to fulfill prerequisites for another program. Since they are not enrolled in a formal degree or certificate program, they are not eligible for financial aid but can still access many campus resources and services.
