Ride for Roswell
SUNY Niagara served as one of 4 host sites for the Ride for Roswell. This annual event is one of the nation’s largest cycling events, with a mission of bringing riders, volunteers and cancer patients together to honor and support those impacted by cancer. Proceeds from the event directly benefit Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Student Nurses Association
Members of the Student Nurses Association organized a donation drive for Horizon Health Services where they collected various items including books, shoes, clothing, and DVDs as a way to give back to the community.
Passage House
As one of their many community service initiatives, Student Life hosted an event for Domestic Violence Awareness where they created toiletry kits for Passage House, a domestic violence shelter serving Niagara Falls, North Tonawanda, and Niagara County.
NFCI Student Club
NFCI Student Club members collected over 500 items to make 50 care packages for those suffering from homelessness. The care packages were donated to the Niagara Falls Community Missions.
Each year our talented baking and pastry arts students and faculty transform the second floor of the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute into a Gingerbread Wonderland complete with a completely edible life-sized gingerbread village and Santa’s house. The building is full of holiday spirit from the weekend after Thanksgiving until the weekend before Christmas, including live entertainment, cookie decorating, crafts, face painting, and visits with Santa Claus himself!
Health Studies Program
Health Studies students collected blankets, food, toys, cleaning supplies, and grooming tools to present to the Niagara SPCA.
United Way Day of Caring
SUNY Niagara employees participated in the United Way Day of Caring by spending time working on a painting project at Empower in Niagara Falls.
Phi Theta Kappa
Members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at SUNY Niagara collected 331 pairs of socks and underwear for homeless veterans in a drive during the fall of 2020. Donations were presented at the fall Honors in Action Conference in Cortland, NY.
SUNY’s Got Your Back
In collaboration with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department, SUNY Niagara students, staff, and community members get together annually to fill comfort bags with personal care items for victims of violence.
